((I invented this as a RP device while my faction lacks numbers - they may fade out as these numbers get larger - This will also explain exactly what 'Armada' is, which you will undoubtedly hear reference to in my RP)).
Welcome to Armada.
If you are reading this leaflet, it is likely that your ship was commandeered by one of our hunter groups and brought here and it is likely that it was against your will.
First off I would like to say we mean you no harm and there is a reason for this.
What is Armada?
Armada was founded almost a hundred years ago now by a group of people who did not wish to live under the growing pains of the degrading state of normal civilization. Over the years we have come to consider our society to be fortunate enough to be outside of the eyes and ears of the One World Government. Also to consider ourselves free of the ravages of the war and the wastelands that it has created.
As you will see, Armada is a vast city and it is constructed entirely of ships. Ships that have been captured or procured or rescued over the last century. Some ships are massive, converted into large residential areas, which has become a necessity over the years, others are smaller and have specialized tasks such as energy and electricity production, manufacture of Remade parts and so on. We recycle everything, gun turrets of UAC military vessels have become private offices, studies and even cheap apartments...you get the idea. We learn by confiscating the books and literature of our new citizens, often this is against their will but it is for a greater good and all of these books become available for lending at our largest ship the Terpsichora, our library. The ships are strung together in one mass - all facing the same direction - connected by rope bridges high up and decking at low level. Our city moves periodically to avoid detection and is pulled sluggishly through the seas by our tugboats.
Beneath the waves is the undercity of Armada, ships that were not salvageable but still serve a use to our resident Cray People - half person half crayfish mutants that came to be as a result of water pollution in the war. We leave in harmony with the Cray People and while they are a secluded bunch - much like the Remade - they are our friends, violent history notwithstanding.
Obviously if you have been brought Armada, you can never leave. We value our sovereignty and that comes from the reliance that the Government does not know we exist. If they did, most likely a large force of UAC detachments would be here within the week to 'take control'.
Policing is provided by The Remade. A society of biomechanical beings and droids who arrived with us long ago to carve out a new life for themselves and, i must say, one of the few voluntary arrivals here. They do everything we can't. Some even provide entertainment in the fight arenas and, of course, there is always the Cray People's 'Blood Days' every year.
So as the Editor of the Armada Information Bureau, I would like to be the first to welcome you to Armada.
Article of the Week
Many people who may be newly arrived at armada whether by choice or by capture (and I would just like to thank you for adding your ship to our wonderful collection that makes up our fair city of Armada), ask a few question upon arrival. The first is 'who are the remade?' this become plainly apparent as you start your new life in Armada. The second question is 'What is a scuttler?'
A Scuttler is a small and surprisingly simple mechanical device. It has the appearance of a brass ball that range in sizes from that of a ping pong ball to that of a football. They appear solid upon appearance and, indeed, few succeed in breaking them open to discover what works them, we are told that the innards are simple by the Thaumaturges of the Remade and we all know that this is probably true. This is what makes the Thaumaturges the technological mages that they are. Upon the bottom hemisphere are seams. These seems, when the scuttler is called to action, flower open to become eight tiny legs that propel the scuttler along its course, arachnid like legs means they are extremely effective at climbing things and extremely quick. The top half can be blank, or it can have a number of hidden devices, depending on its purpose. The purpose of these Scuttlers can range from simple message delivery to more specialized tasks. Indeed, a group of Scuttlers were fitted with gas cylinders at one point during the Human / Cray turf wars over in Jhour near the Tserpischora library ship.
They are of limited intelligence, complex situations with many variable often cause them to either retreat or shut down completely. As far as we know none have ever been made to explode. Though we do know that they were used to plant explosives in the Dillyweed In Thee and Thime when that serial killer Remade was on the loose a few years ago.
So, new Citizens of Armada. As you settle to your assigned new homes aboard the residential ships and you see Scuttlers skittering about doing their thing. Please don't call the exterminators.
Regards
Tobin Romgate.
Editor of the Armada Information Bureau.
