Neko Azure was born in service, her mother was a pet to the man who would become her master, a result of a secret love affair between her mother and the father she would never know. As soon as her master had discovered her mother's pregnancy he had the father killed for interfering with his pet. Her master was a distrubed man, he abused her mother horrendously physically and sexually although she tried her hardest to hide that part from Azure as she was growing up. Her mother protected her as much as she could, perhaps too much and Azure grew with an innocent naivety that in many ways proved to be her strength but could also be her weakness.
Her mother died when she was 15, until that point her master hadn't paid her much attention now he was left to care for her she became the focus of his attention. He grieved her mother but he wouldn't admit it and she became the focus of his attention. For some reason he never touched her, he refused to allow anyone to touch her in any way. He would order her to regularly tie herself up and he would beat her with his cane or whip telling her she had been bad, the irony being he never let her out of the home and she always obeyed .. she was the ever faithful pet, something her mother had drummed into her but he abused her badly.
Just as she turned 19 he suddenly came home with another pet, he dragged her without ceremony from the house and took her collar before quite literally tossing her onto the street. She was left to fend for herself for the first time in her life with no money, the clothes on her back (silks) and no knowledge of the world at all, all she knew was how to serve.
She wandered and found herself a warm place to sleep on a transport ship, when she woke she was in Midian City, she found some warmer clothes on a line and set about trying to find someone to care for her ... it never occured to her that she could care for herself, she never knew that was an option for her. She found her way to the Pool Hall where she met a lady who gave her some milk and potato chips, the only food she'd had for days, she was innocent, naive, lost and terrified but she soon foudn her way back on the streets, returning to the Pool Hall once or twice more as Calee took pity on her and fed her.
Then one day while wandering she passed the bookshop, Markko saw her standing outside and invited her in, giving her milk and food, she told him her story and he took pity on her, particualrly concerned by her regular visits to the Pool Hall and the potential danger that put her in he told her to come to him for food, and he allowed her to sleep in the store. Azure had never met a man like Markko, he was so kind to her and seemed to have the respect of all around him, he was protective and seemed genuinely compassionate. She asked him if he would be her master, he was reluctant at first, it took some days before he offered her the beautiful collar she now wears proudly. She proclaims herself as his pet proudly now. He protects her innocence yet is intent on educating her, he has told her she is free to leave if she ever wants but is slowly coming to realise she will never leave. Many have tried to tell her she should strive for freedom but she craves the security of a master, her truest pleasure is making him smile and her biggest fear that he will set her free. She will do anything he asks and she will defend him in any way that she can.
She is not trained to fight, he has started to teach her, giving her a knife she carries always but isn't yet skilled with. She can seem simple, naive, easily manipulated to many, still learning how to act in this new society she finds herself but anyone who abuses her new master now in her presence had better watch their eyes as her claws will seek them out. |
