Eden has just arrived in Midian, wandering about for the past 2 years trying to collect herself once again and make sense of her life. She has a twin sister named Elana, who is Eden's total opposite in personality and actions as Elana is fire while Eden is ice. Eden left her life in Korea as well as her sister to be at peace with herself after taking part in the dealing of the Korean underworld.. she also wanted to connect more with her mother's feelings and thoughts as she was exactly her mother's child..

Parents Background:

It all begins..begins with her parents tragic story.....

Their father, Spencer, had been stationed in Seoul and was at a local night club where he met Yeon Hee. For Spencer it was love at first sight, entranced by her stunning beauty, but would soon come to find out that she was more than just beauty, but had a pure soul and heart. A woman who had many secrets but full of hope with a desire for change.

There was one great secret though that Yeon Hee would hide from him.. the fact that she was the daughter of a kkangpae (korean gang) crime boss. She feared that if her family knew Spencer would leave her. Not only that but she feared for him as well, as her family wouldn't take to well to the couple's interracial relationship.

This would be the two's downfall as Spencer overhead Yeon Hee in an heated argument with her father about her relationship. Spencer was concerned for the woman he loved, proposing the idea that they run away to the US where he thought that they could be safe. Sadly, this dream would never become a reality. Two weeks before the two would run away together, Spencer got caught up in a fight with a young Korean male who was actually a gangster. Spencer ended up being stabbed to death... his killer was later reveled to be Yeon Hee's own cousin.

The death of the man she loved was a great shock and loss to Yeon Hee who had just found a week earlier that she was with child. Yeon hee held a great hatred for her family and their dealings, but was at a loss as to how to break apart from that world of crime and lies. She decided to commit suicide taking the life of her unborn child with her.

Her brother would find Yeon Hee's body at the foot of the stairs in their home , she had apparently thrown herself down the flights of stairs in an attempt to kill herself but was taken to the hospital and treated. To everyone's surprise though it was announced that Yeon Hee was going to have twins and both had survived the fall and would be alright. This was a shock to the Cho family and the head of the family requested that Yeon Hee be watched at all times until the birth of the children, after that... Yeon Hee would be taken care of so that she wouldn't become more of a thorn in the Cho family.

She knew of this and instead of becoming more depressed , she made a promise to herself that she would protect the lives of her children and that they wouldn't live their life in a world of crime as she had. With that promise made she would sneak away into the shadows and run away to Japan taking up residence in Nagoya, where she lived and gave birth to her two daughters Eden (Yeon soo) and Elana(Min soo).

The two girls lived with their mother until the ages of 5 when the girl arrived home with their nanny to find their house broken into.. their mother lying in a pool of her own blood in her bed. Two men would arrive at the house within minutes to speak to the girls and tell them that "bad men" had come to rob mommy and that mommy was hurt bad by them. These men of course were hired by the Cho family and took the girls back to korea.

Many issues came with the children being brought into the Cho household, one being that fact that they were the product of an interracial relationship and both girls came out with a much darker skin complexion. They were looked down upon as being garbage, default children not accepted by the heads of the family at first, but Yeon Hee's uncle would step up and offer to raise them. To teach both girls to be Korean rather than embrace their American side.

Their uncle became the girls father figure as they had never known their true father. As their uncle had dealings with the Korean mafia, it was only natural that he would want the girls to protect themselves as well as any other family member that might have been a target. He would train the girls in Taekwondo "the way of the foot and fist".

Although her sister Elana was more adept to the fighting style, Eden had trouble , as her uncle put it she did not have the heart of a fighter and that she was too kind. This caused her much anguish as her sister would excel in training and become the more favored twin. Eden would not let this set her back as she could be found in the late evenings practicing back behind their house an attempt to catch up with her sister.

Both girls grew older and were taught in a traditional Korean fashion. Their uncle would tech them to have the utmost loyalty to the Cho family and tell them that even though they may have darker skin, they still Korean and should be proud. This was something that would stick with both girls as they grew, with both having a resentment towards Americans. The both lived very good lives protected by their uncle, given whatever they wanted, however both girls would have totally opposite personalities and goals for their future..
