Just a little observation and Idea, don't know if it will come to anything. I know a few people in midian with mad 2d graphics skillz.

Just wondering why midian city and appoc don't have their own logo's on the group logo or advertisement.

Maybe people could make some capturing the "feel" of the sim and put them up here. ((or a flicker link))

One sized for group logo
One sized for any advertisement.

Maybe jade might pick sum?

who knows, just a random thought.

Charles, I think that is a marvelous idea, especially since we can use it to advertise our city.

You are correct that we have an abundance of talented people here, so I'm sure we could come up with something that would do Midian proud.

Honestly, I am surprised that some of our more talented people havent made a "video" of Midian for Youtube. I know the ones made for the peep show by Dae were fantastic.

So, being one of 'those graphic artists' myself, I think of course it is a great idea but also know that to make something goooooooood there should be a bit of a broader 'brainstorming' regarding the look&feel of it. well I mean I know what Midian feels like for me. but I'd be curious for what you others bring up if you would have to describe Midian in maybe 5 characteristics of 'feelings' or other associations/pictures that come to your mind when thinking of it.

Having a vague 'closer idea of what the majority think' helps incredibly to come up with something that will be used in the end. *grins*

Also question: typographic logo or a combination of word-picture.

On it like a fat kid on cake.

Being a graphic design student, there's a coupla things I get taught about logos:

It's got to work and be visible when it's big and when its teeny-tiny.

It's got to work in colour and in black and white.

The colours should reflect the feel of the city. So we're talking grungy, dark colours, your blacks, purples, perhaps reds for the death, greys, that sort of thing.

I'm going to be having a good ole fiddle, myself, if I can get the time to do it.

I guess we should all just try to do it and then let the city .. or Jade .. decide about the best design.

I am going to propose something and I'm sure it will be laughed at, especially since it is something I can't do myself.

One of the things I have noticed is that we do seem to have a hard time making new people read all our different notecards.

Would it be possible to design a small "book format" guide? I remember one was shown on here that was done so well. I am just thinking if we could incorporate our policies into this format, it might be easier for some to read and as an added beneit, I was thinking they might actually keep it and show it to others, who may then visit and stay.

As I said, this may be a huge undertaking and I certainly don't know how to do it, so I'm hesitent to ask, but just throwing it out there as an idea.

A book like the last dark times. That would be nice indeed.

I nominate Myca's pic for a logo, just needs the word Midian added, I love this pic.

If someone makes the textures to add to the book I'd be happy to produce the book itself.

Neat idea!

I took these last night. Submitted for possible consideration:

Unretouched:

Filtered:
http://flickr.com/photos/15319511@N06/2462605840/

NOTE for anyone trying to take long view pictures: I used a trick to hide the sky prim. Go into Advanced --> Render --> Hide selected. Then crank your draw distance to the max, make sure you have no camera limits, then cam out as far as you can so you can select the top prim and both cylinder prims. Keep them selected as you cam around to get your shots and they won't show in the snap.

Cheers!

Well, I got creative overnight, and did a couple of rather simplistic graphical representations of the letters 'MC'. Also did a 'Midian City' tag in case someone wanted to superimpose it onto one of those fine photos. All of them are in B&W for simplicity's sake.

This is what my process work usually looks like when I'm designing - a jumble Razz

I like it!

Played with it here: note, the logo is pretty small compared to my picture, thus the size contrast Very Happy

As for 'simply a picture of Midian', the following is one of my very favorits I created at some point. It wasn't made 'specifically for this idea now', but at least wanted to share it:
