As some of you may know I'm very into one on one help with people, sorting out storylines, images and basic roleplay.
However alot of time is spent trailing about shops for things...
Now I enjoy this, but I have only so much free time to do it, and only knowledge of so many shops.
Therefore I belive we should put a Midian Starter Pack together, pending Jade's approval - I've spoken to Atomica about it.
In my imagination, once you get through the naked girls and sadistic intentions, you might find somehting abit like this...
> A Midian RP guide: With general rp etiquette, example roleplays, Dos and Don'ts, etc - Just basically compiling alot of the stuff we already have.
> A list of suggested shops, organised by price range and product, with a small blurb on each, and with a LM - To help people shop.
> A Midian freebie box, and this would be kinda big, and would include the the following...
Gang specific started packs, for Strays, Trackers, Creepers, Wannabe Mafia, Vamps, Rats and Mechs, then just stuff for Dwellers.
I can provide an awful lot of this, especially for trackers and rats, but I'd suggest we send a cry out to some of the builders in Midian gangs for a few freebies, I'll donate some of my stuff, but wed need some things like serviceable Nekos ears and tails, Bio parts, bits like that.
It would require alot of freebie trawling by some of us, as I think wed be after quality stuff, else wed have alot of noobs on out hands, I do know of some shockingly good stuff for free though.
And I think to stop Midian becoming a vendor we could only give it out to those who attend a class and show real interest...So mentors and citizens, would you give me a hand putting it together, and Studends, is there a real need for it?

Only problem I see, as a mech myself.. I have yet to come accross any biomech-usefull freebies. And biomech parts are NOT cheap. |

Exactly - I'll ask Dragnar Drake - hes a better builder then me, and a mech
If not I'll make somm freebies for you guys myself, or charge very low prices if it takes alot of work.
Though I'll need people to start a reall campaign of freebie trawling to help get this set up. And Jade still needs to apprve us doing it. _________________ Jay Skall

I have no idea about mechs and what they need, but would consider my building skills as not the worst ones... so maybe some of you mechs wanna contact me, and we'll find out what might be needed... I'd be glad to contribute something to Midian - hehe.. even though IC Chandra is not sure yet what to think about the mechs..... ;-) _________________

| Did this box for newcomers ever get implemented. I know that I would *love* one. The RP tips and lists of helpful stores would be especially useful. As well as tips on how to break into Midian RP. |

I'm willing to contribute to this as much as I can. I'm still new to SL, but have found that I can find quality freebies, and have already amassed a large collection, lol. I am also continuing to build, and making better stuff every day, as well as learning to script LSL.
I would like to also suggest an addition to the starter pack, though it may require that it be updated at least fairly regularly. I have been approached dozens of times already by people new to Midian, and I've only been there myself for a few weeks. I've heard many many times about how hard it is to break in, and how cliquish it is there. My suggestion has to do with this.
I was thinking we, you, someone could create a few storylines that are meant specifically to bring new people into the Midian community. Something that they can read in the starter pack, and immediately have a place to get their foot in the door. I'd be willing to dedicate some of my time in Midian to partaking in these plots, and going out of my way to welcome new people properly(Midian Style, of course *eg*) We could even include these as RP classes of a sort, helping those new to RP overall, or RP in SL to get the hang of it all.
The storylines don't have to be complicated, but it would be great if they allowed for at least an introduction to the factions the newcomer is interested in, if any. We could probably even cycle the storylines out, if people don't feel like participating in new ones that are essentially meaningless to their characters, and only meant to help newcomers.
Just a suggestion... |

Hey guys,
I'm sorry the starter packs never got finished, as I didn't get as much help as I hoped for, and lost abit of enthusiasm after an incident. I might revive the project if there's demand in the summer and maybe some offers of help. I will be building alot then and might unearth some older more basic builds and things I could add.
As for newcomer specific storylines, I put forward a proposal for 'feeder' factions specifically to mentor and interest newcomers, although the general consensus was that people wanted the theatre instead. Again, if people think there would be demand for this, then the proposal still exists in the mentor forum, I think though it would take significant backing to push through though.
Basically my answer is I've tried to make both those things happen, and couldn't, if people have any interest in running with things then by all means go ahead, but, for now, both ideas are shelved. _________________ Jay Skall

If anyeone would like to take it upon themselves to coordinate and maintain this, feel free to speak up!
I'd be happy to have a little "welcome booth" of sorts set up in some part of the training room. We can set up some simple single prim information boxes with 'touch to receive' scripts to hand out the all the notecards and items.
I have tons on freebie RP prop items I can provide, as well as the 'touch to receive' scripts if needed.
Just let me know |
