After a constant growth in forum usage, it is now time for slightly stricter rules. They will serve to make relevant information and discussions easier and faster to access.
The main problem with the forum right now is thread hijacking and posts in wrong sub forums. The casual small talk often clouds the threads dealing with serious issues. The small talk is welcomed, but only in its respective sub forum.
Staying on track
All sub forums except “OOC - The Spam Can” and “IC - Character Backgrounds” are now regarded as “Serious Forums”. Some types of posts are unwanted in the Serious Forums:
• Thread Hijacks. Meaning posts not related to the original topic.
• Direct replies to a poster, not addressing the topic in general, but one specific individual and his/her post.
• Short posts with little or no useful content, unless they are a simple expression of support to a previous post.
• Humor only posts. While humor is great, try and keep it inside a larger serious post.
• Faction forums are moderated by the faction as it sees fit.
The basic rules
Mostly anything goes in the not so serious or none clutter affected forums. Here you can still post as you use to, and want to, within the obvious rules of the forum in general. Failure to comply with the basic rules could result in a ban.
• No illegal material. Things like pirated software.
• No discrimination.
• No spamming. Neither regular griefing spam nor commercial spam.
• No trolling. Don’t behave like a forum rodent looking for a fix of flamewar.
• Use common sense.
Thread linking
Obviously some discussions spawn new discussions or grounds for a funny conversation. These are fine as long as they are moved to new threads, or the spam can new forum.
If you wish to go off topic, please make a new topic. Post a simple title and link in the original thread.
Forum Moderators
Luckily we have had little problems with people breaking the basic rules of the forum. But the new guidelines for keeping the forum clean will require moderators to remind people. A list of moderators will be posted shortly.
Hope these new guidelines/rules will help make the forum easier to read. Cutting to the bone of the discussions. But at the same time giving room to the lighter treads that are still welcomed.
