Is there anyway to get the notes handed out by bot when one enters the chat here in the RP thread by chance? I mean all of them in detail. I am finding more and more friends who are interested in giving Midian a shot as their VW RPG but want to know the nitty gritty about the setting with out having to actually make a AV (some just don't want to go through the trouble if its not what they are looking for). I personally think it is a good idea because there are people who stumble on this board before they are even in SL.

Actually... there IS one even already that Drew posted long time ago, but indeed that is more than out-dated! we might not post all the in-depth things, but at least the current city rules and maybe the overview of the factions might be an idea. |

I've talked to plenty of people interested in coming to Midian as well. I simply tell them to toss on an observer tag, and wander around. No need for a new avy or equipment if they're just looking. |

I am talking more for people who are not already on SL who stumble on the message board or who would like to know more about the RP before making an AV ect ect ect.
I have a copy of all the updated rules and setting in my gmail that I pass out to friends and have posted on a few RPG myspace groups that have snagged interest.

Thanks for this question Affrika. There is actually a way to acquire a plugin for web sites that allows people to sign up directly into SL, appear right on the island and even with preselected inventory (e.g. skins, clothes, the City Guide, RP props, etc).
This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but have been waiting for our full website, which I believe is still in the works. We could then have an entire page dedicated to those who are new, along with the means to join and try it out. |

I really like the idea of having the info available this forum (or through a website or link ). I know that when I first started looking into joining, I was scared witless. Admittedly the premise of MC is a little intimidating, and I had no idea about the observer tags, and none of the other blogs that I had read concerning MC mentioned anything about the notecards.
The information given to me here and upon entering MC not only helped to allay any insecurities about role-playing in general, but helped me examine and come to terms with what happens in the game. I still have difficulties with the idea of "virtual" rape in SL (overall, not just in Midian City), but the information I've found has helped me think of it in an author's mindset: it is sometimes necessary to further a storyline or add to the depth of a character (hence the usage in my character's background). If I had not been able to find the information regarding MC, or been pointed to it by the members of this board, I might have stayed away completely.
Just my two cents, for what it's worth. |
