This is part notice and part question (so if you feel that I should post this in the RP academy section, feel free to swat me over the head and send me packing over there  ).
I'm on SL on kind of an odd schedule: four days on, four days off. Why? Because my fiance has that schedule at work. When he's at work, I play, when he's at home, I try to spend as much time with him as possible (although I am plotting to get him as thoroughly addicted as me Mwhahahahaha).
So to Stephan, Kitteh (if you're reading this), and anyone else keeping an eye out for me over the next few days, I may or may not be on until Saturday (Though FI wants to see Midian, so I may be showing him around one night, or letting him look over my shoulder while I play - as I said, I'll give him a taste first and hope he comes running back for more ;) ).
Now to the question:
Since I have such a weird schedule, how do I cope with this IC? Do I come up with some reason for my absence, or go along like nothing happened?

I don't speak for her or anything, but I know Masha had a similar problem while she was in nursing school. ((Yay for summer break! More Masha!)) She invented a nifty personal plot where she had to go home early at night to study and was gone part of the week, I don't remember, taking classes or something? But it worked for her IC and was nice for those of us who RPed with her to have a reason for her absence.
Maybe you could come up with a similar plot device, a job, school, mysterious boyfriend who's only in town occasionally....

Yup, I used Masha's time away for her to learn how to be a doctor. She's pretty good (crazy extreme trauma patients happen often enough, you GET good or they die), but she's not done with her studies yet! I have three more quarters, then another summer of freedom, then my preceptorship which means Masha's going to be a specialist at the end! Then I'm moving on to working as an RN and finishing up over at university to get the BSN, but that's another thing entirely.
In truth, I may weave other reasons along the way, depending on what's happening in her life ICly. At the moment, folks know she's closeted in her flat or in the office of the MCMC studying.

| Every second weekend Im offline, and usually I make up an excuse that runs within the roleplay... on the mainland for surgery, in the MCMC unconcious, or visiting family. I believe I spent one weekend kidnapped. |

Hey Nem,
Presently I'm on pretty much everyday, but for those long periods of time when I am gone from SL (like will happen from July 17th to August 3rd) I usually RP that I'm either working on something taht gripping my attention and being a hermit or have some job that takes me out of the visible eye. In other RP I would rp travelling, but given I'm stuck in Midian that will not really work.
Well, take care, it's nice to know why I wont see you. Have fun and see you when you come back on. |

This happens to me at times and I always worry about it.
Luckily, I think most of us understand and as long as they know your schedule they will be happy to see you.
